Best Brunch in Glasgow 2026

Glasgow does brunch properly. None of that sad toast-and-a-poached-egg nonsense you get down south. We’re talking proper plates of food, strong coffee, and places that actually give a damn about what they’re serving. Fancy a classic fry-up? Sorted. Want something more creative? Also sorted.

I’ve eaten my way through more weekend brunches than my waistline would like to admit. Here’s where you should be spending your Saturday mornings.

1. Cafe Strange Brew (Best Overall)

This is the one. If you haven’t been to Cafe Strange Brew on Pollokshaws Road in Shawlands, you’re missing out on what is comfortably the best brunch in Glasgow. The pancakes are famous for good reason. Fluffy, thick, and piled high with toppings like blueberries, pistachio cream, and maple syrup. They’re the kind of pancakes that make you annoyed at every other pancake you’ve ever eaten.

The shakshuka is class, the Turkish eggs are spot on, and the breakfast burritos are enormous. Budget around £10-15 per person for food plus a coffee. It gets rammed at weekends so expect a wait. They’ll text you when your table’s ready, which means you can wander about Shawlands in the meantime. Worth every minute of the queue.

Where: 1082 Pollokshaws Road, Shawlands, G41 3XA

2. Singl-End

Singl-End has two spots. One in Garnethill, one in the Merchant City. Both are brilliant. The Garnethill one feels more like a local cafe. The Merchant City branch is bigger and better for groups. Their brunch menu covers everything from a full Scottish to eggs every way you can think of. The baked goods are all made in-house and the coffee is properly done.

Boozy brunch is popular here too. A cocktail with your eggs Benedict on a Saturday? Aye, go on then. Mains sit around £9-14. The place has a proper following on social media and it’s earned.

Where: 15 John Street, Merchant City / 53 Renfrew Street, Garnethill

3. The Gannet / Eleven Fifty Five

Right, full disclosure. The Gannet as we knew it closed at the end of 2025. Chef Peter McKenna has reopened the space as Eleven Fifty Five, a more casual bistro at the same Argyle Street address. It’s named after the street number. The weekend brunch is more relaxed than The Gannet ever was, but the quality is still there because McKenna is still in the kitchen. Think proper Scottish ingredients done simply but well. Expect to pay a bit more than your average brunch spot, around £15-20 for a main plus coffee, but you’re getting fine dining skills on a brunch plate.

Where: 1155 Argyle Street, Finnieston, G3 8TB

4. Cottonrake

Cottonrake in the West End is a bakery first and a brunch spot second. That matters, because it means the pastries are unreal. The almond croissants are some of the best in Scotland. Not Glasgow. Scotland. Their quiches are proper too. The brunch menu is short and focused. You won’t find 40 options here. You’ll find 10 things, all done brilliantly.

It’s a wee place, housed in a townhouse on Hyndland Street. Expect to queue at weekends. Pastries from about £3.50, brunch plates around £8-12.

Where: 205 Hyndland Street, Partick, G11 5QH

Byres Road in Glasgow's West End, near several of the city's best brunch spots
Glasgow’s West End is home to some of the city’s best brunch spots, with Cottonrake and Stravaigin both within walking distance of Byres Road.

5. AFS (Another Finnieston Spot)

AFS is tucked away down a staircase on Argyle Street in Finnieston. It’s got a proper American diner feel to it. Neon lights, chequered floors, big portions. The all-day brunch is solid. Think loaded home fries, chicken and waffles, and stacked pancakes. It’s not trying to be fancy. It’s trying to feed you well, and it does.

The underground bar does live music at weekends too, so it’s a good shout for a late brunch that turns into an afternoon. Mains around £10-14.

Where: 1154 Argyle Street, Finnieston, G3 8TE

6. Riverhill Coffee Bar

Riverhill is right on Gordon Street, practically next to Central Station. Handy if you’re in town early. They open at 7am on weekdays and the breakfast and brunch menu is no-nonsense. Good eggs, good toast, good coffee. Nothing groundbreaking, but everything is done right and the prices are fair. A bacon roll and a flat white for under a fiver is hard to argue with.

The space itself is a bit compact. Not the place for a big group, but perfect for a quick solo brunch or a catch-up with a mate. Brunch plates around £6-10.

Where: 24 Gordon Street, City Centre, G1 3PU

7. Mesa

Mesa on Duke Street in Dennistoun is one of the East End’s best brunch spots and it doesn’t get the credit it deserves. The menu changes with the seasons, which keeps things interesting. They do a cracking shakshuka and the French toast is properly indulgent. The coffee comes from local roasters and the vibe is relaxed without being try-hard.

Dennistoun is having a proper moment right now and Mesa is a big part of that. Expect to pay around £8-13 for a brunch plate.

Where: 563 Duke Street, Dennistoun, G31 1PY

8. Tibo

Also in Dennistoun, Tibo has been a local favourite for years. It’s as much a community hub as it is a cafe. They host open-mic nights, exhibitions, and film projects. But the brunch is why folk keep coming back. Classic Scottish breakfast done well, good veggie options, and proper portions. It’s not trying to reinvent anything. It just does the basics really, really well.

Prices are very reasonable. You’ll get a full brunch with coffee for around £10-12. Hard to beat.

Where: 14 Whitehill Street, Dennistoun, G31 2LH

9. The Hug and Pint

If you’re vegan or just want something different, The Hug and Pint on Great Western Road is the one. It’s a bar and live music venue first, but their food is all vegan and all excellent. The menu changes daily and draws on Asian flavours. Think bao buns, kimchi, and creative small plates. Sunday brunch is a proper event here.

Even if you’re a committed carnivore, the food is good enough to win you over. Small plates around £5-8, easily enough for a good brunch if you order two or three.

Where: 171 Great Western Road, G4 9AW

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow's West End
Kelvingrove is just a short walk from several top brunch spots in Finnieston and the West End. Perfect for a post-brunch wander.

10. Stravaigin

Stravaigin has been a West End institution since 1995. The name comes from an old Scots word meaning “to wander aimlessly with intent,” which is a pretty good description of a Saturday morning brunch. The weekend brunch menu is creative. Full Scottish, aye, but also red pepper shakshuka, Shetland mussels, and dishes that pull from cuisines all over the world.

The building itself is class too. Exposed stone, open fire, big windows. It feels like a proper Glasgow institution because it is one. Brunch mains around £10-16.

Where: 28 Gibson Street, West End, G12 8NX

Quick Tips for Brunch in Glasgow

  • Book ahead if you can. The popular spots fill up fast at weekends, especially between 10am and noon.
  • Weekday brunch is underrated. Same food, no queue, better service.
  • Cash tips are appreciated. Most of these places are independent and staff actually see the tips when they’re in cash.
  • The Southside is worth the trip. Strange Brew alone makes Shawlands worth visiting, and there’s plenty more round there.

Glasgow’s brunch scene is strong and getting stronger. New places keep opening, but the ones on this list have proved they can keep standards high year after year. Get yourself booked in.
