Best Date Night Ideas in Glasgow 2026

Glasgow is a brilliant date night city. You’ve got Michelin-starred restaurants, basement cocktail bars, independent cinemas with sofas, and comedy clubs that’ll have you both crying laughing. The trick is knowing where to go.

Here’s our pick of the best date night ideas in Glasgow, from budget-friendly to proper splurge.

1. Eleven Fifty Five, Finnieston (Dinner)

This opened in February 2026 on the old Gannet site and it’s already one of the best restaurants in the city. Chef Peter McKenna runs a 52-cover bistro focused on aged Scottish beef, seasonal fish, and dishes inspired by his Irish roots. The space has been completely redone with a warm, relaxed feel.

Where: 1155 Argyle Street, Finnieston. Price: Mains from around £20 to £35. Tip: Open for dinner Mon to Sat, lunch Thu to Sat. Book ahead, especially weekends.

Finnieston is date night central. The strip along Argyle Street has more good restaurants per metre than anywhere else in Scotland.

2. Cail Bruich, West End (Splurge Dinner)

Glasgow’s Michelin-starred restaurant. Chef Lorna McNee is Scotland’s only female Michelin-starred chef and the food is exceptional. Multi-course tasting menus that showcase the best Scottish seasonal produce. This is the big one for a special occasion.

Where: 725 Great Western Road, West End. Price: Tasting menus from around £85 per person. Tip: Book well in advance. Dress smart but not stuffy.

It’s expensive, aye. But if you’re celebrating something, this is where you go. The cooking is genuinely world class. The name means “eat well” in Gaelic, and you absolutely will.

3. The Spiritualist, City Centre (Cocktails)

A cocktail bar on Miller Street that feels like walking into a Victorian seance parlour. They claim to have Scotland’s greatest bar gantry and honestly, the spirits selection is ridiculous. The cocktails are proper craft stuff, not your standard highball-and-dash.

Where: 62 Miller Street. Price: Cocktails around £10 to £14. Tip: Boozy brunch available Thu to Sun 12pm to 3pm. Walk-ins welcome but bookings recommended at weekends.

The decor alone is worth the visit. Dark wood, low lighting, and enough atmosphere to make anyone look good.

4. Roots Cocktail Bar and Brasserie (Cocktails and Dinner)

Opened in the old Gin71 space on Renfield Street. A beautiful listed 19th century building with original tiling and gorgeous light fixtures. The cocktail list is inventive and the food has a Mediterranean twist from the team behind the old Mediterraneo in Merchant City.

Where: 71 Renfield Street. Price: Cocktails from around £10. Food mains from £15. Tip: Open Tue to Sun from 11am. Afternoon tea available daily 12pm to 4.30pm if you fancy something different.

This works as a drinks-only stop or a full dinner. The building does a lot of heavy lifting for atmosphere.

5. Everyman Cinema, Princes Square (Film)

Forget your standard multiplex. Everyman has three intimate screens inside the glass-domed atrium of Princes Square. Proper sofas and armchairs instead of cramped seats. Food and cocktails delivered to your seat during the film. It feels like watching a film in your own living room, except much better.

Where: Princes Square, Buchanan Street. Price: Tickets from around £14. Food and drinks extra. Tip: Book the sofa seats for two. Arrive early and have a drink at their bar downstairs.

This is the best cinema experience in Glasgow by a mile. Mainstream films, independents, and classics all get screened.

6. Level X, St Enoch Centre (Activity Date)

Bowling, mini golf, VR gaming, and arcade games all under one roof. This is the fun date. No pressure, plenty to do, and a good bar to keep things lubricated. Competitive folk will love it. Relaxed folk can just play mini golf badly and laugh about it.

Where: St Enoch Centre. Price: Activities from around £8 to £15 each. Tip: Go on a weeknight to avoid the crowds. Weekends get busy with families during the day.

Not every date needs to be candlelit. Sometimes you just need to beat someone at bowling. The VR arena is surprisingly good fun too if you want to try something different.

7. The Stand Comedy Club (Comedy)

Scotland’s original purpose-built comedy club. Shows every night of the week with a mix of established acts and newer comedians. The cabaret-style seating means you’re close to the action. Sometimes too close if the comedian spots you.

Where: 420 Great Western Road, West End. Price: Tickets from around £5 to £20 depending on the act. Tip: Don’t sit in the front row unless you’re happy being picked on. Thursday to Saturday shows are the strongest bills.

Laughing together is honestly one of the best date activities going. The Stand is consistently good and it’s been running since 2000 for a reason. Glasgow International Comedy Festival runs through March every year and the Stand is right at the heart of it.

8. Kelvingrove Park at Sunset (Free Walk)

The budget option that might be the most romantic of the lot. Walk through Kelvingrove Park as the sun goes down with the university lit up on one side and the museum glowing red on the other. Bring a flask of something warm if it’s cold.

Where: Kelvingrove Park, West End. Price: Free. Tip: Enter from the Argyle Street side and walk up through the park towards the university. The view from University Avenue looking back over the park is stunning.

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best. This costs nothing and it’s genuinely beautiful. In summer, folk sit on the grass with a bottle of wine and watch the sun go down. You’d swear you were somewhere on the continent, except for the temperature.

9. Ox and Finch, Finnieston (Sharing Plates)

Small plates done properly. The menu changes regularly and the idea is you order a few dishes each and share everything. It takes the pressure off choosing and gives you something to talk about. The food is creative without being pretentious.

Where: 920 Sauchiehall Street. Price: Small plates £6 to £14. Budget about £35 to £45 per person with drinks. Tip: They don’t take bookings for small groups, so get there early or be prepared to wait at the bar. Which isn’t the worst thing.

10. Late Night at the Necropolis (Free Walk)

This one’s not for everyone, but walking around the Necropolis at dusk with the city lights below you is genuinely atmospheric. The Victorian monuments look incredible against the sky and you get views right across Glasgow. It’s quiet, it’s different, and it’ll definitely be a memorable date.

Where: Behind Glasgow Cathedral. Price: Free. Tip: Go in summer when there’s still light. It’s an open cemetery so use common sense about timing.

Final Thoughts

Glasgow does date nights brilliantly because the city doesn’t take itself too seriously. You can go from a Michelin-starred meal to a comedy club to cocktails in a converted church, all within walking distance. Mix and match from this list and you’ll be sorted. Your date will think you’ve been planning it for weeks. And if the whole thing goes well, you’ve got enough options on this list to keep things interesting for months.
