Dog Attack on Highland Cattle Prompts Search for Owner in Glasgow Park.
A search is underway for the owner of a dog that attacked Highland cattle in Glasgow’s Pollok Park. The alarming incident was caught on video, which recently surfaced and has captured the public’s attention.
The footage shows a black dog named Winston confronting a cow, which then tosses the canine into the air using its horns. Winston, however, continues to chase a young calf, appearing to bite its leg before eventually returning to its owner, who is also in the field.
The police are now working to identify the dog’s owner after Glasgow City Council reported the shocking incident. A spokesperson provided details about the ongoing investigation, urging anyone with information to come forward.
In response, the Pollok Country Park Friends Group has issued a statement expressing concern and reminding visitors to follow safety guidelines when in the park. They emphasized that entering a field with cattle should only be done when accompanied by trained livestock keepers and highlighted safe viewing spots for observing the Highland cattle.
The group also reminded visitors to keep their dogs under control, especially when near cattle. Anyone with information about this or similar incidents is encouraged to contact the police or Crimestoppers.
Glasgow City Council has also called on dog owners to maintain control of their pets while in the park, stressing the importance of keeping dogs on a lead if they cannot be kept under close control. They acknowledged the distressing impact of the incident on the cattle and their young calves and reiterated their commitment to reporting the matter to the police.
