Glasgow’s Queen Street Station May Welcome New Greggs Bakery Location.

Glasgow is poised for a potential Greggs bakery expansion, following the recent establishment of a Greggs location at Glasgow Airport. The popular High Street bakery chain has submitted a proposal to open a new store within Glasgow’s bustling Queen Street Station.

The planning application, submitted to Glasgow City Council, outlines the construction of a retail pod, complete with signage and a store situated within the railway station. The proposed design features a high-top counter for potential seating and an entrance located on North Hanover Street. Currently, Glasgow City Council is reviewing the application.

Submitted on April 18, the decision on the Queen Street Station proposal is anticipated by June 16. The prominent railway hub is also home to a 131-square-meter Marks and Spencer food hall, situated near the Dundas Street entrance. If approved, the new Greggs location will share the station with the M&S food store, which recently received permission to sell alcohol.

In addition to catering to train commuters, Greggs has been focusing on serving air travelers as well. The chain has replaced the former Mozzo cafe at Glasgow Airport, providing seating for up to 50 patrons. This 24-hour food outlet, which opened its doors in April, features an outdoor seating area and has generated 20 new job opportunities.
