A mother was left shocked after unearthing small holes in the family changing rooms of a sports centre.

Leoni Jade Smalley stumbled upon this disturbing find after she took her three-year-old daughter to Hyndburn Sports Centre in Accrington.

According to Leoni, while changing in a cubicle, her daughter pointed out several holes in the wall. Moving to the adjacent cubicle, Leoni was appalled to note that it was possible to see through these holes into the other cubicle where her daughter was.

Leoni shared her distressing experience with LancsLive. She confided, “I put the camera of my mobile through the hole and saw my child’s body. It’s disturbing. You don’t know whose been in the changing rooms or who has peeped through these holes.”

After dressing up, she decided to speak up about this issue with the centre’s front desk staff. According to her, the staff was not aware of these holes and seemed indifferent to her distress.

Quote, “The staff member responded saying she wasn’t aware because she doesn’t use that area. When I told her about the holes in the wall, she seemed disinterested and said, she would inform the manager.

She continued, “When I left, I noticed that nobody got up to verify my claims. It was surprising. If someone informs you about a potential safety issue involving holes in the wall, it’s only common sense to check personally.”

The Hyndburn Sports Centre’s explanation was that ‘screw holes’ were left behind after removing a baby change unit, which was deemed unsafe.

Leoni rebuked, “As soon as the baby change unit was dismantled, these holes should have been sealed immediately. It should have been a priority to do so on the same day. As it’s a changing room, having holes like these is a hazard.”

A representative from the Hyndrand Sports Centre remarked, “The reported screw holes were remnants of a baby change unit in a single change area, that was disassembled due to safety issues. Upon these reports, both on-site and on social media, these holes have been filled up, considering it a matter of high importance.”
