How are we doing – pupils, staff and families asked about education in the city

As Nelson Mandela once famously said ‘Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world’ and Glasgow is very proud of the learning and teaching on offer in our schools and nurseries to every child and young person in the city.

Now we want to hear how well we are doing – and how we can make anything better – as we know that education is crucial to our young people making a difference in their lives.

For the first time, pupils, staff, parents, carers and anyone with a vested interested in education can have their say on services that can have an impact on nearly every person in Glasgow.

A special education services stakeholder survey has now been published online – https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/3CDKMDJ

As Councillor Chris Cunningham, City Convener for Education, Skills & Early Years said: “The survey, which should take no more than ten minutes to complete, is your chance to tell us what you think.

“The information you provide will be used to help improve our schools and we will share the findings with everyone once we have collected all the responses.

“Of course we have asked stakeholders in the past how they view education in the city – as part of the council’s annual Household Survey – and in smaller, localised surveys across our nurseries and schools – but this is the first citywide survey we have carried out in a long time.

“To make the data worthwhile, we need as many people as possible to take part.  Education affects us all – so please make your views known.

“You can then all help to shape an education that will meet the needs of every one of our children and young people and regardless of their circumstances.”

The results and recommendations of the survey will be published in the new school term in August 2018.
