Battle for PFA Manager of the Year: Top Coaches from Celtic, St Mirren, Dunfermline Athletic, and Stirling Albion Compete for Prestigious Title.

Ange Postecoglou, Stephen Robinson, James McPake, and Darren Young have all demonstrated exceptional management skills throughout the season, earning them nominations for PFA Scotland’s Manager of the Year award.

Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou is in the running for the accolade, having previously claimed the title after guiding the team to a Premiership and League Cup double during his first season at the helm. The 57-year-old Australian manager could achieve a domestic treble this year if his Glasgow-based squad triumphs over Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the upcoming Scottish Cup final.

Stephen Robinson, the 48-year-old Northern Irishman, has made history for St Mirren by securing a spot in the Premiership’s top-six for the first time since the introduction of the league split. This achievement marks a milestone for the club under Robinson’s leadership.

James McPake, in his debut season as Dunfermline Athletic’s manager, has orchestrated a remarkable turnaround for the Fife side. Guiding them back to the Championship at the first attempt, McPake led the team to a 14-point victory in the League 1 title race and ensured an unbeaten home record across all competitions.

Darren Young, a former Aberdeen and Dunfermline midfielder, has similarly made an impact in his first full season as Stirling Albion’s manager. Overcoming Dumbarton’s initial lead, Young’s 44-year-old Stirling side secured the League 2 title and earned promotion by an impressive 11-point margin.

Both McPake and Young have experienced their share of challenges, with McPake being dismissed by Dundee in February 2022 while his team languished near the bottom of the Premiership. Young faced a similar fate when East Fife released him in November 2021, only for Stirling to recognize his potential and appoint him as manager the following month.

These four talented managers now eagerly await the announcement of the PFA Scotland’s Manager of the Year, as their impressive feats throughout the season are celebrated and acknowledged.
