Railway Disruption in Glasgow as Truck Collides with Bridge.
A truck accident in Williamwood, East Renfrewshire, has led to significant railway disruptions in Glasgow, with engineers and emergency services rushing to the scene. The collision occurred on Wednesday morning when a lorry struck a rail bridge, resulting in the suspension of train services between Glasgow Central and Neilston.
The incident has forced the termination of trains at Cathcart, with all stations between Cathcart and Neilston remaining unserved. Commuters have been left to deal with the inconvenience as the Network Rail response team assesses the bridge for potential damages.
At present, there is no information on whether any injuries have resulted from the collision. The emergency services were promptly alerted and are currently on-site to manage the situation.
In a statement released by ScotRail, the company said, “Due to a road vehicle colliding with a bridge at Williamwood, all lines are closed. Train services between Glasgow Central and Neilston will be terminated at and started back from Cathcart. All stations between Cathcart and Neilston will not be served.”
Network Rail Scotland expressed their frustration over the incident, stating, “Frustratingly, we’ve had another incident this morning. A lorry has struck a bridge at Williamwood, so we’ve had to close the line until the bridge has been examined. We’re sorry for the inconvenience this will cause.”
As engineers and emergency personnel continue to work on the scene, commuters are advised to seek alternative transportation options and stay updated on the progress of the situation.
