Tragically, a woman lost her life after falling from a multi-level car park in an urban centre.
Authorities were alerted regarding the woman’s safety who was present in a car park, on Mount Vernon Street, in close vicinity to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital in Liverpool.
Emergency services including paramedics and officers from Merseyside Police reached the location around 5 pm on Thursday, January 11, subsequently setting a security perimeter.
Upon the arrival of the police, the woman, unfortunately, fell from the structure. The woman, aged 29, was declared deceased at the location.
Authorities informed the Liverpool Echo that her death is currently under investigation but does not indicate any suspicion. The next of kin have been notified, although formal identification hasn’t been performed. A post-mortem is scheduled to clarify the cause of death.
A representative for the force confirmed the closure of the intersection at Prescot Street and Low Hill while emergency services were dealing with the situation and drivers were recommended to bypass the area.
They said: "We can verify that emergency services are at a multi-storey car park in Liverpool city centre this evening (Thursday 11 January) following the death of a woman.
"The emergency services (Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service) were summoned to a concern for safety of a woman at the car park on Mount Vernon Street, nearby the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, around 5pm.
"Shortly subsequent to their arrival, she fell from the building. Regrettably, the 29-year-old woman was declared dead at the scene. Her death is currently being examined but does not seem suspicious."
