Glasgow Community Mourns Loss of 5-Year-Old in Heartbreaking Bus Accident.
The heartrending loss of Ayan Khan Nooreen, a 5-year-old boy who succumbed to severe injuries in a bus crash in Glasgow, has left the community grieving. The tragic event took place on Calder Street on April 4th, around 5.40 pm, when a First Bus vehicle was involved in the accident.
Young Ayan suffered critical injuries during the incident and, despite paramedics’ best efforts on-site, he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. Another victim, a 9-year-old girl, sustained severe injuries and was immediately taken to the Royal Hospital for Children for medical attention.
Following the accident, authorities launched an investigation and closed Calder Street for several hours. The road was reopened before midnight. Since then, numerous heartfelt tributes have been paid to Ayan near the accident site at Holy Cross Primary School, located at the intersection of Calder Street and Hickman Street.
Tender displays of affection, such as flowers and teddy bears, adorn the fences and lampposts, placed by school staff and family friends. Condolence messages, prayers, and loving words of support have been expressed for the Khan family and the young girl still recovering in the hospital.
Local politicians, including Cllr Elaine Gallagher and Cllr Dr. Soryia Siddique, have also expressed their sympathies via social media, emphasizing the tragic nature of the incident.
As the investigation continues, Police Sergeant Nick Twigg has urged witnesses or individuals with any information, including dashcam footage, to come forward and assist the authorities. First Bus has confirmed their cooperation with Police Scotland in the ongoing inquiry.
