An individual, Craig Ferrier, who is a footballer, was apprehended with an excess of £60,000 of Class A drugs concealed in his property. He has been informed by authorities that he narrowly avoided a prison sentence.

The large volume of cocaine and heroin was discovered in a secret compartment in his bathroom by law enforcement during a raid earlier this year.

Ferrier is known for his role in the Edinburgh United team in the East of Scotland Football League. Following the raid on his property, he was also connected with another illicit drug discovery. This occurred after his DNA was found on a bag of heroin located within a car assumed to be stolen.

Ferrier was arrested and kept in custody for three months before being called to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

The 22-year-old admitted to four counts of drug-related charges last month and was subsequently given bail.

The sportsman returned to the court for sentencing where Sheriff Kenneth McGowan informed him that he had initially anticipated a custodial sentence to be inevitable.

The sheriff elaborated: “I have resolved that, by a very thin margin, you are fit for community service.”

Ferrier was consequently put on a 12-month supervision order. He will be required to wear an electronic monitoring tag, and he must reside at his home from the hours of 9pm to 7am for the coming year.
