Glasgow has been issued with another yellow weather warning by the Met Office. According to the forecasters, rain, sleet and snow will soon be followed by ice over the next 24 hours.

As winter holds its icy grip on the UK, the Met Office has once again issued a yellow weather warning for many regions, including Glasgow. The warning covers a range of precipitation, from rain and sleet to snow and ice, which is expected to cause some travel disruptions.

Although the previous weekend’s snow and ice warning barely materialized in Glasgow, the current warning is expected to bring more severe weather to the region. The Met Office forecasts a drop in temperature, with highs of 10°C and lows of -3°C expected today and highs of 5°C and lows of -1°C tomorrow.

Starting at 5 pm today and ending at 10 am tomorrow, the warning advises locals to brace themselves for longer journey times on roads, railways, and buses. Additionally, there is a risk of slips and falls on icy surfaces, as well as ice patches on untreated roads, pavements, and cycle paths.

The yellow weather warning is in effect due to a northward moving area of rain which is predicted to turn into sleet and snow, initially over Scotland, before heading southward. Although accumulating snow is expected to be above 200-300 meters, lower levels may also see 2-5 cm of snowfall in some areas. The sleet and snow will clear southeastwards overnight into Tuesday, followed by plummeting temperatures and the formation of ice, particularly on untreated surfaces.

Residents of Glasgow and the surrounding areas can stay up-to-date with the latest forecast by checking the hour-by-hour forecast available on the Met Office’s website.
