Our approach

Glasgow News is a guide, not a news desk. People use it to find out where to park, when the bins go out and what’s on. So we put accuracy first and speed second.

Sourcing

  • We use official sources first: Glasgow City Council, SPT, Police Scotland, the Scottish Government, and event organisers.
  • We link to the source inside the page, so you can check it yourself.
  • Our guides are written from official sources, not copied from other websites. If a fact comes from one source only and we can’t confirm it, we say so.
  • If we can’t confirm something, we write “to be announced” or “check with” the official body, and link to it.

Older news posts in our archive, mostly short items from before we became a guide, haven’t been checked to this standard. Treat the guides as the part of the site we stand behind.

Dates and prices

Dates, prices and rules change, so we date them. Key pages show when we last checked them. A price or charge is given with the date we read it. If the official page and our page ever disagree, the official page wins and we change ours.

Seasonal pages, like Christmas markets and Hogmanay, are rechecked as organisers publish their details.

Corrections

We fix mistakes quickly and plainly. If a mistake could have cost you money or a trip, we say what we changed on the page. Report an error through our contact form with the page and the official source if you have it.

Money and editorial choices

Some pages have affiliate boxes labelled “Ad”. They sit apart from the guide text and are explained on our affiliate disclosure page. We pick what to write about and what to recommend first. Affiliate partners come after, never before.

  • A business can’t pay to be ranked in a “best of” list.
  • Sponsored features are labelled “Sponsored”. Their links are marked as paid.
  • We don’t sell links that pass search ranking.
  • We don’t run display ads.

If a partner’s offer is poor value, we’ll say so or leave it out.

Use of AI

We use AI tools to help with research and drafting. They can get things wrong, so every fact is checked against the official source before a page goes live. The tools don’t decide what goes on the site.
