Glasgow Residents Still Await Return Home Following Bomb Squad Operation.

A group of 26 Glasgow residents has yet to receive permission to return to their homes after a bomb squad operation forced their evacuation earlier this week. The Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was dispatched to address a security alert on Petershill Road in the Springburn area of the city.

The bomb disposal team was called in after authorities found a suspicious object in a local apartment on Monday. On Tuesday, a controlled detonation was carried out in a nearby field. A 50-year-old man has been apprehended and charged in connection with the incident.

As a result, police are conducting further searches in the vicinity, and partial closures remain in effect for four streets in the area. Authorities have described these additional measures as “precautionary” in nature.

A police spokesperson requested that people avoid the affected area, as a security cordon is still in place. The Springburn neighborhood continues to experience partial road closures on Petershill Road, Red Road, Oatfield Street, and Dykemuir Street.

NG Homes manages the properties of the 26 displaced residents, who are currently being accommodated in hotels courtesy of Glasgow City Council. Springburn Leisure Centre is also available for any tenants or homeowners within the evacuation zone who require assistance.

The individual charged in relation to this incident is scheduled to appear before Glasgow Sheriff Court shortly.
