Ch. Insp. Elaine Tomlinson from Police Scotland‘s Greater Glasgow Division was one of the first to report the incident. She confirmed the road closures implemented in the vicinity of the crash and urged the public to seek alternative routes, given the disruption to traffic and rail services​.

First Bus, the operator of the damaged vehicle, confirmed its involvement in the accident. The company spokesperson expressed their concern for those affected and committed to cooperating fully with the emergency services at the scene.

The crash also threw train services between Glasgow and Paisley into disarray. Network Rail announced that an inspection of the bridge would be necessary before restoring train services. The bus, trapped under the bridge, presented a significant hurdle in their efforts to ensure the safety of the railway infrastructure. The rail firm shared images of the crash site, highlighting the extent of the damage to the bus and the bridge​​.
