About Glasgow News

What Glasgow News is

Glasgow News is an independent guide to Glasgow. We cover the things folk actually search for: parking, council services like council tax and bins, transport, seasonal events such as the Christmas markets, and the city’s areas.

We’re not the council, and we’re not a news agency. We write plain answers and say when we’re not sure.

How we research and check

We start with the official source: Glasgow City Council, SPT, Police Scotland, the organisers of an event. Where we can, we link straight to it so you can see what we saw.

Key pages carry a “last checked” date. If a date, price or rule can change, we say when we looked. If we can’t confirm something, we say “to be announced” or point you to the official page. We don’t guess. You can read more on our editorial policy page.

Corrections

If we’ve got something wrong, tell us through the contact form. Say which page and what’s wrong, and send a link to the official source if you have one. We’ll check it, fix the page and update the date.

How the site makes money

We don’t run display ads, and we’ve no plans to. The site earns money in two ways.

  • Affiliate links. Some pages have a box labelled “Ad” with a link to a company, for example a parking booking site. If you click and buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Those links are marked as paid so search engines don’t treat them as a recommendation. Details are on our affiliate disclosure page.
  • Sponsored features. A business can pay for a feature. It’s labelled “Sponsored” and its link is marked as paid.

We don’t sell links that pass search ranking. Money doesn’t decide what we write or how we rank things.
