Two Bus Drivers Hospitalized Following Collision in Lockerbie.

A dramatic accident in Lockerbie involving a head-on collision between two buses has left both drivers injured and in need of urgent medical attention. The men, aged 41 and 73, were immediately transported to the hospital, with the older driver later moved to Glasgow due to the severity of his injuries.

The unnerving incident took place on Alexandria Drive when the buses, traveling in opposite directions, collided with each other. The drivers were quickly rushed to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary following the accident, which occurred at approximately 3:15 pm on Tuesday.

Due to the gravity of his injuries, the 73-year-old driver was subsequently transferred to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for further treatment.

Constable Christopher Wightman of the Dumfries and Galloway Road Policing Unit has issued a public plea for witnesses to the collision. The authorities are especially interested in individuals with CCTV or dash-cam footage that may have captured the incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police at 101, referencing incident number 2290 of May 9, 2023.

The Lockerbie bus collision highlights the importance of road safety and serves as a reminder for drivers to remain vigilant and cautious while navigating the streets.
