Community Events Scotland is hosting the Glasgow North East Fireworks Festival at Glasgow Fort on Saturday 5th November.
The event will run from 11am to 9:30pm, with a funfair and performances throughout the day and the fireworks display taking place in the evening.
Here’s everything you need to know about the festival before setting off:
Timings
The free festival will open at 11am with stage performances starting from 12pm, including tribute band Little Mix Magic at 2:30pm. The fireworks display will take place from 7:30pm and Glaswegian band Scheme will close the event from 8pm – 9pm. Festival goers can also enjoy a funfair throughout the day and into the evening, with all rides subject to a small cost.
Alcohol will be strictly prohibited at the event and sparklers are also banned to help keep everyone safe.
Getting here
Organisers are recommending those attending the Fireworks Festival walk or take public transport to get to the event where possible. If you are travelling by car, please be aware that the car parks are likely to be busy, so allow for additional time to travel and consider parking at the other designated festival car parks, including Glasgow Club Easterhouse, The Lochs Shopping Centre and Platform, the art centre on Westerhouse Road, which are all in walking distance.
Glasgow Fort will be open as usual
Visitors will have access to Glasgow Fort’s shops and restaurants as normal throughout the day, including the newly opened Leopardo Pizza, as well as Monterey Jacks, Five Guys and Nando’s, and many more. Please visit www.glasgowfort.com for more information. There will also be a selection of pop-up food stalls around the venue during the festival.
