Scottish National Party will prominently headline independence in their General Election manifesto, insists John Swinney. The First Minister is optimistic about the forthcoming vision that will be presented in the manifest next week.
Swinney asserts that the SNP’s strategy displays a stark contrast to the persistent gloom propagated by Westminster. In addition, the party leader mentioned that his MPs will rally against budget cuts and suggest investments in public services such as the NHS.
In reference to his party’s push for independence, the First Minister claimed that the SNP firmly believes that severance will allow Glasgow to match the triumphs of adjacent European nations.
The SNP leader states, “Austerity, Brexit and the cost-of-living crisis, these were all manufactured in Westminster and throughout this campaign, the SNP is spotlighting how these irresponsible decisions have negatively impacted Scotland.”
“It is the SNP that offers the real alternative to the comfortable Westminster consensus during this election. Our manifesto will target the issues that are of utmost importance to the people, providing a tangible vision of hope in stark contrast to the perpetual despair propagated by Westminster,” he added.
“SNP MPs will vehemently oppose public spending cuts, regardless if they are proposed by the Tories or Labour. Instead, we will advocate for the investment in our people and public services such as our NHS – to construct a sustainable economy that benefits all.”
“We strongly believe that decisions about our future should be made in Scotland, for Scotland.”
“By gaining independence, we can secure the necessary powers that we need to match the success of our European neighbours. Hence, independence will be proudly inscribed on the first page, first line of our manifesto,” Swinney concluded.
