Meghan Markle’s relationship dynamics with her Royal in-laws, including Princess Kate, is a widely-discussed contrast. From the beginning, the subtle signs pointing towards the differences between Meghan and the Royal family were evident, according to various Royal commentators.

Experts have noted the divergent attitudes displayed by Princess Kate and Meghan during their engagement interviews. Meghan’s self-assured demeanor, in particular, was markedly different from the comparatively reserved disposition of other Royals joining the family.

For example, Princess Diana appeared rather reserved next to then-Prince Charles during their 1981 engagement announcement. Similarly, Princess Kate exhibited a certain degree of nervousness during her engagement interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby in November 2010, often looking towards William for support during the question session.

On the other hand, Meghan was reportedly more confident during her engagement interview with Mishal Husain in 2017 than Prince Harry, as observed by Richard Eden from Daily Mail. The seasoned actress gave off a dominant aura during the interview, often leaning towards her fiancé, showcasing her self-assurance.

Reports have surfaced suggesting that Meghan’s confident ‘performance’ during her interview should have raised suspicion among the Royal Household, which it did not at that time.

An insider claimed: “At the time, there was so much excitement about the engagement that no one really scrutinized Meghan’s comments,” adding skepticism to the now scrutinised interaction. “However, reflecting back, some of her responses seem insincere and her body language is telling.”

The interview raised suspicions, especially when Meghan described their initial meeting as a blind date, then contradicting this in their 2022 Netflix documentary, where Harry revealed that they met over Instagram.

Harry recollected, “I was scrolling through my feed and a friend had shared a video of them, it was like a Snapchat,” continuing, “That was the first thing that caught my attention, I was like ‘Who is THAT?”

Meghan then recalled receiving an email from the mutual conenctor: “Between you and I thought you might want to know this being newly single and all. I put our Snapchat on Instagram and Prince Haz follows me (he’s a friend) he called me last night wanting to meet you. hehehe. I might just have to set you up.”

Flirtatious exchanges and video calls paved the way to their real-life meeting, leaving royal enthusiasts puzzled due to the revised account of their love story. The changed narrative led to confusion among their followers, questioning whether they met on a blind date as previously stated or through Instagram.

The narrative around their first encounter was further muddled in Prince Harry’s candid autobiography ‘Spare’, where Meghan is portrayed arriving in a black sweatshirt, jeans, and heels. Harry describes her as “chic” in her simple attire, thinking of her as “heart-attack beautiful”.

However, Meghan’s version differs from Harry’s. During an ITV documentary where she was reunited with her Givenchy wedding dress, Meghan shared that a piece of the dress was sewn into her gown as her ‘something blue’. As she saw the dress for the first time since her wedding during ITV’s Queen and Commonwealth episode she exclaimed: “My goodness, it’s amazing, isn’t it? The blue fabric that’s stitched inside, it’s my something blue. It’s the fabric from the dress that I wore on our first date. It’s nice to see it again. It’s beautiful.”
