As seen in a recent light-hearted video, Outlander actress Caitriona Balfe cheekily teased her co-actor Sam Heughan about his alleged single status.
The beloved Outlander ensemble was engaged in a game of ‘This or That’, played during an interview posted on the Instagram page of Starz’s popular drama. This fun event was part of their interaction while filming the show’s eighth and concluding season.
Actors Sam and Caitriona, alongside colleagues Richard Rankin, Sophie Skelton and others, were asked to decide between categories like “soldier or spy” and “America or Scotland”.
However, when it concerned gemstones, Sam seemed slightly perplexed.
When quizzed about choosing between ruby and sapphire, Jamie Fraser’s portrayer, Sam, turned to Caitriona and asked: “What’s the difference?”
With an amused look and a roguish jab, she responded, “You’re obviously not gifting jewellery often enough to people.”
Fortunately, Sam seemed unfazed by this light-hearted ribbing and continued with the interview.
They found unanimity when asked to decide between coffee and tea: both answered promptly with “Coffee”, Sam adding, “Lots of it.”
Sam’s romantic journey can be intriguing as Caitriona’s tease suggests the charming Scot may be single – or at least not known for showering a certain someone with gemstone-encrusted trinkets. According to reports from June 2024, he hasn’t yet entered matrimony and no official companion has been reported.
Despite being spotted with an unidentified lady in May 2024, Sam – who considers himself a workaholic – appears to be prioritising his career over personal life.
In a chat with The Drew Barrymore Show in 2022, he stated, “As an actor, my career, including my role in Outlander, has always been the priority. It’s challenging when travelling constantly. I’m focused on my career now, though I’m sure at some point; something or someone will turn my life upside down.”
On the other hand, Caitriona, who is married to Anthony “Tony” McGill, has rubbished any rumours about a possible off-screen romance between herself and Sam. She revealed to People magazine, “We’re great friends, sharing a similar experience, which is wonderful. We understand each other perfectly. I try to be as supportive to him as he is to me.”
Fans are eagerly awaiting the second half of Outlander season 7, set to air on Starz from Friday, November 22.
