Sam Smith Forced to Postpone Glasgow Concert Due to Sudden Illness.
Acclaimed singer Sam Smith was set to dazzle fans at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro on Saturday, but an unforeseen illness has led to a last-minute change of plans. The 30-year-old star took to Instagram to announce that the Scottish leg of their Gloria Tour would be rescheduled for next month due to a virus that has affected both Smith and their team.
In their heartfelt message, Smith wrote: “My dear fans, I regret to inform you that we must reschedule the Glasgow show to May 25th, 2023. A virus has struck both myself and several members of my team, leaving us feeling quite unwell. As a result, we’re unable to deliver the best version of Gloria the Tour at this time. Rest assured, we have already arranged an alternate date so we can celebrate Gloria together!”
The good news for fans is that all previously purchased tickets will remain valid for the new date. Smith’s UK and Europe tour had been off to a promising start, with captivating performances in Sheffield, Dublin, and London.
While Smith’s talent has been on full display, some of their on-stage antics and outfits have generated mixed reactions from the audience. A few concertgoers have deemed certain performances “inappropriate” for younger viewers. At the Brit Awards, for instance, Smith’s eye-catching inflatable latex suit and their unforgettable rendition of “Unholy” alongside Kim Petras became hot topics on social media.
