Have you ever been intrigued about what happens behind the scenes at Scotland’s nature reserves? Are you curious what role a countryside ranger plays? Here’s a golden opportunity to delve into a day in the life of a Scotland ranger, in collaboration with the National Trust for Scotland.

One fortunate individual, with up to three their companions, will be able to spend a day experiencing the life of a countryside ranger, assisting in the protection of the habitats and flora and fauna of one of the National Nature Reserves guarded by the Trust.

No two days in the lifecycle of a countryside ranger at the National Trust for Scotland are alike, and the winners of this competition will be taking part in various routines of a typical day.

The selected individuals, in addition, will enjoy two peaceful nights in one of the Trust’s comfortable holiday-let properties along with a year’s membership to the National Trust for Scotland, granting them access to over 100 special locations, along with countless unforgettable experiences and memories that come with the membership.

Even if you don’t win the main prize, there are five runner-up prizes of National Trust for Scotland yearly memberships up for grabs.

The largest independent conservation charity in Scotland, the National Trust, is dedicated to preserving and safeguarding the country’s rich natural beauty and cultural treasures for everyone to relish.

The Trust is in charge of eight National Nature Reserves, including well-known locations like Ben Lawers, Corrieshalloch, Glencoe, Mar Lodge Estate, Torridon, St Abb’s Head, Staffa, and St Kilda. These nature reserves shelter an array of wildlife—from ancient trees to red squirrels.

Conservation experts, dedicated to their mission, along with a multitude of eager volunteers toil relentlessly through the seasons to regulate visitor activities, ensuring responsible access and protection of Scotland’s iconic landscapes while also conducting wildlife surveillance and managing invasive plant species.

The players of People’s Postcode Lottery have generously raised over £3.4million towards the efforts of National Trust for Scotland. These funds also provide backup to a committed team of countryside rangers working to shield these unique landscapes while facilitating safe and sustainable access for all.

The Trust’s Love our Nature project, encompassing multiple activities from conservation cattle grazing to seabird monitoring, is one of the initiatives that have benefited. People’s Postcode Lottery pledged £900k last year in support of National Trust for Scotland’s comprehensive array of nature conservation projects taking place across the nature reserves and wild areas it oversees.

By lending your support to National Trust for Scotland in protecting these places, you play a part in continuing the work of preserving and sharing Scotland’s beautiful landscapes, wildlife and heritage now and for future generations.
