ScotRail Alert: Month-Long Suspension for Glasgow-Kilmarnock Train Services.
ScotRail has declared that train services connecting Glasgow Central and Kilmarnock will be substituted by buses throughout the month of July. The temporary suspension, commencing on Saturday, June 24, and lasting until Thursday, August 3, 2023, will affect numerous stations on the Southside of Glasgow, as well as Barrhead, Dunlop, Kilmaurs, and Stewarton.
This major service disruption stems from Network Rail’s scheduled engineering work, which will necessitate the use of bus replacements for over a month on this bustling route.
ScotRail has confirmed that the engineering projects at East Kilbride and Barrhead will result in a complete closure of all lines, every day. Consequently, train services between Glasgow Central and Kilmarnock will be suspended, and stations between Pollokshaws West and Kilmarnock will not receive any train services.
During this period, Crossmyloof and Pollokshaws West stations will be served by train services running between Glasgow Central and East Kilbride. Meanwhile, Kilmarnock will be accessible via services originating from or heading to Ayr, Dumfries, and Carlisle.
To compensate for the suspended train services, ScotRail will operate two replacement buses per hour between Glasgow Central and Kilmarnock from Monday to Saturday. However, on Saturdays, the frequency of these buses will be reduced to an hourly service.
In addition to the scheduled service disruptions, buses will replace trains between Glasgow Central and Dumfries instead of Kilmarnock from Sunday, June 25, to Sunday, July 2, due to further engineering work.
