In an alarming incident, a fire erupted in a residential building located in the eastern district of Glasgow, leading to several individuals being rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

The intense inferno seized control of a property on Bathgate Street, with fire services receiving the call for assistance around 1:22 pm on a typical Monday afternoon. The sight that greeted the responding units was nothing short of a structure intensely ablaze.

According to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), the individuals requiring medical attention comprised three men and one woman, all of whom were promptly taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for preventative health evaluations. An additional trio of individuals was also treated at the very location of the incident and then released.

Although the fiery grip on the building was eventually subdued and extinguished, a couple of fire teams lingered at the premises to ensure the complete safety of the surrounding area.

An SFRS spokesperson detailed the event, saying, “Upon receiving reports of a structure fire on Bathgate Street, Glasgow at approximately 1:22 pm on Monday, July 17, we instantly dispatched four fire service vehicles to the location. Our crew arrived to find the building fiercely ablaze.”

In a subsequent statement from Police Scotland, it was mentioned that they were alerted about the incident around 1:35 pm the same day. They confirmed that three individuals were given medical aid at Glasgow Royal Infirmary as a safeguard, and three others received treatment for smoke inhalation on-site.

Regrettably, another incident occurred in Glasgow’s southside, on Annandale Street in Govanhill, where an 83-year-old woman tragically lost her life due to a flat fire. The unfortunate event took place in a ground-floor apartment within a four-story residential building, with the fire services being alerted at around 5:14 pm on Sunday.

While the situation is undoubtedly heartbreaking, it’s also important to note that the fire is not being considered suspicious at this time, as per the statement from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. Further investigations will be carried out, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal for review.
