Lamb Discovery Leads to £10,000 Drug Bust on M74 Highway.
A surprising find on the M74 highway included a lamb, £10,000 worth of illicit substances, and a side of fries. Authorities discovered the unlikely trio during a routine traffic stop near Glasgow, which led to a significant drug seizure.
On Saturday evening, Police Scotland officers pulled over a vehicle on the northbound carriageway near Junction 3. The search that ensued uncovered heroin valued at £7,000 and cocaine worth approximately £3,000. Police dog Billy played a crucial role in detecting the narcotics.
In addition to the drugs, officers were astonished to find a live lamb inside the car. The animal has since been taken in by a local farmer, and investigations are underway to determine how it ended up in the vehicle.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland shared details of the incident: “On Saturday, 22 April 2023, at around 18:10 BST, officers stopped a car on the M74 northbound carriageway, near Junction 3. Following the arrest of the vehicle’s three occupants, a thorough search was conducted with the help of the dog unit. PD Billy’s keen senses led to the detection of the hidden drugs.”
The suspects, two men aged 52 and 53 and a 38-year-old woman, have been charged with drug-related offenses and reported to the procurator fiscal.
This bizarre incident serves as a reminder of the unexpected nature of law enforcement, where a routine traffic stop can lead to the discovery of hidden contraband, and in this case, even a woolly passenger.
