Glasgow Celebrates King Charles III’s Coronation Weekend With Festive Activities.

Glasgow is all set to commemorate the crowning of King Charles III on Sunday, May 7th, with a grand ceremony at George Square, followed by a majestic parade leading to the Glasgow Cathedral. Lord Lieutenant Jacqueline McLaren will officially represent the City of Glasgow in this regal affair.

At 9:45 am, George Square will host the Guard of Honour inspection, speeches, and a hearty three cheers for the newly crowned King and Queen, followed by the National Anthem. Subsequently, Lord Lieutenant McLaren will take The Salute as the military, cadets, and veterans march past the City Chambers.

The procession will continue to Glasgow Cathedral for an 11 am Thanksgiving Service. While media accreditation is not required, photography access within the Cathedral will be limited. Media personnel interested in attending should contact Cat Watt, PR Officer, Glasgow City Council, beforehand at 07766471481.

Glasgow invites its citizens to participate in a weekend-long celebration honoring the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla. This historic event will feature numerous official activities throughout the city, encouraging organizations and communities to unite and participate in various initiatives, leaving a lasting legacy.

The Coronation Big Lunches and The Big Help Out will bring people together over the special Bank Holiday Coronation weekend.

The Coronation Big Lunch encourages communities to share a meal in parks, gardens, and community spaces, celebrating the historic event while forging new friendships. Resources can be found at: https://www.edenprojectcommunities.com/the-big-lunch
