Top Glasgow Venues Battle for Best Bar None Award

Glasgow’s Top Nightlife Spots Compete for Coveted Best Bar None Awards.

Glasgow’s finest bars, clubs, and entertainment venues are gearing up for the highly anticipated Best Bar None (BBN) Glasgow Awards. The official registration event is set to take place at The Venue, Strathclyde Students Union, a well-known hotspot for local students.

On May 10th, starting at 9am, David Cavani from The OVO Hydro will be among the distinguished speakers at the award launch. The OVO Hydro was the proud recipient of the esteemed Sustainability Award in 2022, an accolade honoring venues that have embraced eco-friendly practices.

Establishments across Glasgow are encouraged to register and participate in this year’s competition, vying for Gold, Silver, or Bronze recognition. The annual awards ceremony will be held later in the year, with Glasgow’s Best Bar None winners moving on to compete at the BBN National awards.

Lise Fisher, a representative from BBN Glasgow, expressed excitement for this year’s event: “We’re eagerly anticipating a diverse mix of newcomers and returning participants for the 2023 awards. The licensed trade is vital to Glasgow’s economy, and the Best Bar None Awards highlight venues that prioritize public safety and customer care.”

Fisher emphasized that the awards provide a valuable opportunity for venues to share best practices, learn from their peers, and benefit from complimentary training sessions.

Since its inception in 2005, Best Bar None Glasgow has been organized in collaboration with Glasgow’s Alcohol and Drugs Partnership (ADP), Glasgow City Council, Scottish Business Resilience Centre, Police Scotland, and the Licensed Trade. BBN Glasgow members receive regular training on stewarding, crime scene preservation, drug awareness, responsible drinking, and identifying and safeguarding vulnerable individuals.

An independent assessor will evaluate each establishment based on their efforts to prevent crime and disorder, ensure public safety, minimize public nuisance, promote public health, and protect children from harm.
