Despite going into administration, Antonine Staff are assured there will be no redundancies.

The future of Antonine Shopping Centre in Cumbernauld, Lanarkshire, looks bright despite our previous report of administration. Local MSP Jamie Hepburn and Stuart McDonald MP recently met with one of the administrators and were given reassurances that the mall’s operations would continue as normal while a buyer is sought.

The administrators have confirmed that there will be no redundancies among staff or changes to supplier or tenant contracts. The 200,000 sq ft shopping centre, which has served the community since 2007, is home to 42 retail units and 1,100 car park spaces. Over the past 16 years, it has been a popular shopping destination for locals and visitors alike, with 35 million people walking through its doors every year.

TK Maxx, Next, TJ Hughes, and other popular high street retailers have called Antonine Shopping Centre their home. The mall is a vital part of the community, and the news that it will continue to operate as normal has come as a relief to its staff, tenants, and suppliers.

In a statement, MSP Jamie Hepburn said, “It was certainly reassuring to be told that there would be no redundancies among staff, or changes to supplier or tenant contracts. The administrators are looking to attract interest and find a buyer for the shopping centre, and we have faith that they will succeed in their mission.”

The Antonine Shopping Centre is a staple of Cumbernauld, and its preservation is crucial for the local economy. The fact that no jobs will be lost and that the mall will continue to operate as normal is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the administrators.

The owner is still looking to sell the mall.
