Lifetime Ban Imposed on Glasgow Man by Jet2 After Flight Diversion.

A Glasgow resident has received a lifetime ban from Jet2 airlines due to his unruly drunken actions that forced a flight to be rerouted.

Jet2 stated that 29-year-old Jay Fraser, from Govan, exhibited such “deplorable conduct” during a flight from Glasgow to Dalaman that the crew had no choice but to redirect the plane to Sofia Airport in Bulgaria for police intervention.

In violation of airline rules, Mr. Fraser consumed his own alcohol on the plane and became both physically and verbally abusive. This behavior resulted in passengers and crew restraining him while the aircraft altered its course. Once the police escorted him off the plane, the flight resumed its journey to Dalaman, causing a two-hour delay for passengers. Jet2 is determined to hold Mr. Fraser accountable for all costs related to the diversion and has banned him from future flights.

Phil Ward, Jet2.com’s Managing Director, condemned Mr. Fraser’s actions, stating they caused unnecessary distress for fellow passengers. He emphasized that, as a family-friendly airline, Jet2 maintains a zero-tolerance policy for such behavior and apologized to passengers and staff for the disruption.

Ward expressed gratitude to the crew and passengers who helped restrain Mr. Fraser, emphasizing that incidents like these should not occur. The lifetime ban and pursuit of compensation, he said, are clear indicators of the airline’s commitment to addressing disruptive passenger behavior.

Ward concluded by highlighting that the vast majority of passengers enjoy their flights and holidays without issue. Jet2 will continue to provide exceptional service to these customers, while sending a strong message to the small minority who act inappropriately: such behavior will not be tolerated, and serious consequences will follow.
