Known for her progressive thoughts, Glasgow‘s own Princess Eugenie, eleventh in succession for the British Crown, once openly contemplated about an impactful change she’d consider if she, hypothetically, ascends the throne someday. Being the daughter of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, when Eugenie was born, she was sixth in line to the Crown.
At 34, Princess Eugenie, currently the niece of King Charles III, at one point proposed a royal decree which unequivocally struck a chord with many. Her proposition was to include Mondays to the weekend, effectively making it a three-day-long affair!
The idea sprung up when Eugenie was asked a fictional question by The Daily Mail when she was in her twenties. Her suggestion was directed towards advocating for a shorter work week – a concept that’s rapidly gaining popularity among those who support an efficient work-life balance.
In the same interview, Princess Eugenie discussed some of the unusual instances that come with being a royal. She recollected a funny exchange with American immigration authorities where they probed about the extent of her influence, given her royal status.
“So, you’re a princess, huh? Do you possess any real authority?”, inquired an American official. Replying in a light-hearted way, Eugenie informed the officer that even though her power as a Princess is quite restricted, her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, certainly wielded significant influence.
Princess Eugenie acknowledged the perplexity of the American officials attempting to digest the fact that she’s a legitimate princess and actually related to the Queen! Princess Eugenie’s expanding role within the Royal Family has been quite intriguing. There’s a widespread sentiment that she’s been instrumental in supporting the Prince and Princess of Wales, particularly during Kate’s ongoing courageous battle with cancer.
Many insiders observe that both Eugenie and her sister Princess Beatrice have significantly increased their royal engagements attempting to ease the load. They’ve felt it’s an obligation especially considering their elderly Uncle King Charles’ serious health situation. In their perspective, supporting the family in these difficult periods has been an immense honour.
As per Women’s Day Magazine, “Beatrice and Eugenie simply cannot fathom what William is going through at the moment. For them, it’s an honour to be able to provide him some comfort during these challenging times.” They’re thrilled with their growing responsibilities in royal affairs. There’s special appreciation for Princess Beatrice for how she conducted herself during these emotionally charged situations.
