The best late night food in Glasgow is in the city centre, on and around Sauchiehall Street, Argyle Street and Gordon Street. Blue Lagoon on Gordon Street fries until 4am, or 5am on Friday and Saturday nights, and KFC and Taco Bell on Argyle Street keep the same hours. On those nights Greggs on Gordon Street is open until 4am and Domino’s on High Street until 3am.

For a proper plate, the Howlin’ Wolf and Slouch, both on Bath Street, serve a full menu until 2am. In the West End, German Doner Kebab on Byres Road is open until 2am every night. For 24 hour food, citizenM’s canteenM on Renfrew Street calls itself a 24/7 bar-restaurant, and Asda’s Toryglen superstore on the Southside is open round the clock, though it’s a shop, not a takeaway.

Last checked: 24 October 2026.

Every opening time, address and price for the food places below comes from the place’s own website. If a website doesn’t show prices, we haven’t guessed them. We left out anywhere we couldn’t confirm, so a few names you might expect aren’t here. That includes McDonald’s and Popeyes, whose websites blocked our checks, and takeaways that only show their hours on delivery apps.

Late night food in Glasgow city centre

Most of the late kitchens are in the city centre, in a rough triangle between Sauchiehall Street, Argyle Street and Gordon Street. Bath Street, the Trongate and Union Street are where we found places to sit down. For earlier meals, see our best cheap eats in Glasgow and best restaurants in Glasgow.

Blue Lagoon: the late night chippy

Inside the Blue Lagoon chip shop on Gordon Street in Glasgow
Photo: Blue Lagoon

Blue Lagoon opened its first shop on Sauchiehall Street in 1975, and it’s still the chippy folk mean when they say late night. The shop at 69 Gordon Street, G1 3SL is close to Central Station and open until 4am, or 5am on Friday and Saturday nights. You can sit in or take away, and its website lists wifi and card payment.

Get a fish supper, or try a pizza crunch, which is an 8 inch cheese and tomato pizza that’s deep fried. The menu also has haggis, black pudding, steak pie and chips with cheese and curry sauce or gravy. There’s a vegan battered sausage too, though not every branch has it. The website doesn’t show prices, so check the board at the counter.

Other branches run late as well, but the hours change by night:

  • 208 Argyle Street: 1am Sunday to Thursday, 5am Friday and Saturday.
  • 299 Sauchiehall Street: 1am on Monday, 4am Tuesday to Thursday and Sunday, 5am Friday and Saturday.
  • 151 Queen Street: 1am Sunday to Thursday, 5am Friday and Saturday.
  • 84 Renfield Street: 1am Sunday to Thursday, 4am Friday and Saturday.

It’s a good shout for anyone off a late train or a night out who wants a seat and a hot supper. For more chippies, see our best fish and chips in Glasgow.

The Howlin’ Wolf: a blues bar with a kitchen until 2am

Photo: The Howlin’ Wolf

The Howlin’ Wolf at 100 Bath Street, G2 2EN opens at noon, keeps the kitchen going until 2am and the bar open until 3am, every day. There’s live blues seven nights a week, and the website advertises free entry. If you want a proper plate and a seat after midnight, it’s the best bet in the centre.

The double smash burgers come with fries. The Classic is £14 and the NY Style is £15.50. Loaded fries are £12.50, fish and chips is £15 and mac and cheese is £12.

For something lighter, six salt and pepper wings are £9.50. Meat-free burgers are available and the fries are vegan. Those are the October 2026 menu prices.

It suits a group who want food and music in one place, or anyone who’d rather sit than queue at a takeaway. You can book online or ring 0141 332 3224. If it’s the music you’re after, our best live music venues in Glasgow has more.

Slouch: pizza, burgers and wings until 2am

Slouch at 203 to 205 Bath Street is a rock and indie bar with a proper kitchen. It opens at 4pm Sunday to Thursday and 2pm on Friday and Saturday, and shuts at 3am. The kitchen runs until 2am, and you order by scanning the QR code on your table.

Burgers and pizzas are the order. The Lucille, a 6oz beef burger, is £12.95, and fries are £2 extra. A 12 inch Margherita is £13.95, and the Nduja Aye? pizza, with haggis and chillies, is £15.50.

Loaded fries are £9.50, six wings are £10 and the veggie burger is £13.50. Those are the prices on the menus on its website.

It’s the one for a big group, because you can book online for up to 20 people. Dogs are welcome too.

Boteco do Brasil: open until 3am on the Trongate

Boteco do Brasil at 62 Trongate, G1 5EP is a Brazilian bar and restaurant that’s open until 3am every night. The website doesn’t say when the kitchen stops, so ring 0141 406 4561 if you’re hoping for dinner at 2am.

The menu is mostly tapas style. Most small plates, like the crispy chicken with lime mayo or the coxinha, are £7.95, and the cheese balls (pão de queijo) are £4.95. Mains include a feijoada at £15.95 and a seafood moqueca at £19, and there are burgers from £10 and a margherita pizza at £10.90. Vegan dishes are marked on the menu, including a vegan pizza and a vegetable moqueca.

It suits a group that wants to share plates and stay out. From 28 November the menu swaps to a Christmas one until early January.

Calabash: African food and a bar until 1am on Union Street

Photo: Calabash

Calabash at 57 Union Street, G1 3RB is an African bar and restaurant, close to Central Station. Its website gives the hours as noon to 1am, seven days a week. It doesn’t say when the kitchen stops, so ring 0141 221 2711 if you’re hoping for dinner near closing time.

The website names spicy choma, which is grilled meat, and pepper soup, and says the menu has dishes from South, East, West and Central Africa. It also stocks African beers like Tusker and Whitecap. You can order for collection or delivery through the site, but we couldn’t find a price list, so we haven’t quoted any.

It suits a group that wants something different from a takeaway at midnight. Bookings go through a form on the website.

KFC, Taco Bell and Burger King: late night chains in the city centre

These are the chains that stay open when the independents have shut. None is fancy, but all of them are hot and open late: KFC and Taco Bell to 4am or later, Burger King to 4am on Friday and Saturday. We couldn’t find prices on their store pages, so we haven’t quoted any.

Taco Bell’s site has a vegetarian menu and a Cravings Value section, which makes it the easiest late stop for a group with a veggie in it. KFC suits everyone else who wants hot chicken at 4am. Burger King is a Friday and Saturday job here, so don’t plan on it midweek.

Domino’s: pizza until 3am on Friday and Saturday

Domino’s lists 20 stores around Glasgow on its own website, and only two stay open past 11pm. The store at 31 High Street (G1 1LX), in the Merchant City, is open until 1am, or 3am on Friday and Saturday. The other is on Great Western Road, in the West End section below.

The store pages list delivery, collection, plant-based and gluten free options. They don’t show a menu with prices, so we haven’t quoted any. The High Street number is 0141 552 2255. For a sit-down pizza earlier in the evening, see our best pizza in Glasgow.

Greggs on Gordon Street: open until 4am on Friday and Saturday

Greggs at 64 Gordon Street (G1 3RS), close to Central Station, is open until 4am on Friday and Saturday nights. Its page shows 5am to 9pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 5pm on Sunday, so it’s a weekend thing.

It’s sausage rolls, steak bakes and pizza slices rather than a sit-down meal. The page doesn’t say if the full menu is on that late, and it shows no prices, so look at the counter. The Greggs inside Central Station shuts at 11pm Monday to Saturday.

Subway: sandwiches after midnight

The sandwich chain has more late branches than you’d think. These are the ones that run past midnight, from Subway’s own store pages:

The Subway at 107 Union Street is the one folk remember, because its normal hours are 24 hours a day. Right now its store page shows it closed every day of the week, with no reopening date, so don’t count on it. Subway’s store pages don’t show prices either.

Late night food in the West End

The West End has fewer late places than the centre, but Byres Road and Great Western Road each have one open to 2am or later. Our Hillhead and the West End guide has more on the area.

German Doner Kebab: kebabs until 2am on Byres Road

German Doner Kebab at 2 Byres Road (G11 5JY) is open from 11am to 2am every day. The locations page on its website lists delivery, dine in and takeaway for this shop, and gives the phone number as 0141 483 7873.

The menu page lists the OG Kebab in toasted sesame waffle bread, doner wraps and burritos, rice bowls and doner boxes with fries. There’s a vegetarian kebab and a plant-based one too. It doesn’t show prices, so we haven’t quoted any. The shop on Renfield Street in the city centre shuts at 11pm, so it’s the Byres Road one you want late.

Also open late in the West End:

Late night food on the Southside

The Southside has far fewer late options. These are the ones we could confirm.

If you’re south of the river at 3am and hungry, your best bet is a taxi into the city centre. That’s where the late kitchens are.

Late night food in the East End and north Glasgow

It’s thinner again. We couldn’t confirm any sit-down food open after midnight in these areas.

24 hour food in Glasgow

Asda’s own store finder lists these Glasgow stores as open 24 hours, every day. They’re shops, not takeaways.

In the city centre, the Moxy hotel at 210 High Street (G4 0QW) lists 24/7 Pick Ups on its dining page, with snacks and drinks paid for at the bar. It says they’re for “day-trippers and party animals alike”, but doesn’t say if you need to be a guest, so check before you go.

The citizenM hotel at 60 Renfrew Street (G2 3BW) says its canteenM is a 24/7 bar-restaurant, and its dining page mentions midnight snacks. The page doesn’t say if you need to be a guest, and it shows no prices, so check before you go.

For hot food, we couldn’t confirm any 24 hour place that’s open right now. canteenM’s page doesn’t list what it serves overnight. The Subway on Union Street is normally 24 hours, but its page shows it closed at the moment. The latest hot food we could confirm is 5am, and you’ll find it in the table above.

We couldn’t find prices on the Blue Lagoon, KFC, Taco Bell, Burger King, Subway, Domino’s, Greggs, German Doner Kebab or Calabash websites, so we haven’t quoted any. Check the board or the app when you get there.

Tips for eating late in Glasgow

  • Check the night. Friday and Saturday are the latest. Blue Lagoon on Argyle Street shuts at 1am on a Tuesday but 5am on a Friday.
  • Ring about the kitchen. A bar’s closing time isn’t its kitchen’s. The Howlin’ Wolf’s bar shuts at 3am and its kitchen at 2am, and Boteco do Brasil and Calabash don’t publish a kitchen time.
  • Veggie, vegan and halal. Taco Bell has a vegetarian menu. Slouch and the Howlin’ Wolf both do veggie burgers, the Howlin’ Wolf’s fries are vegan, and Boteco do Brasil marks its vegan dishes. German Doner Kebab has a vegetarian kebab and a plant-based one, and Domino’s store pages list plant-based options. Blue Lagoon’s website mentions vegan and halal products in some branches, so ask first. KFC’s store pages for Sauchiehall Street, Renfield Street and Pollokshaws Road say they’re 100% halal certified.
  • Book a group. Slouch takes online bookings for up to 20. The Howlin’ Wolf and Boteco do Brasil both have booking pages too, and Calabash takes bookings through a form on its website.
  • Why the takeaways shut by 4am or 5am. Glasgow City Council needs a late hours catering licence for food sold between 11pm and 5am. Its guidance says it won’t usually grant hours beyond 4am in the city centre or 3am elsewhere. A few places have later hours on Friday and Saturday nights.
  • Drinks first? Our best pubs in Glasgow and best cocktail bars in Glasgow cover where the night usually starts.

Getting home after late night food

The underground stops before midnight. SPT lists it as open 06:30 to 23:40 Monday to Saturday and 10:00 to 18:12 on Sundays. Our Glasgow Subway guide has the map and prices.

After that it’s buses and taxis. First Bus runs night buses from the city centre on Friday and Saturday nights: the N2 to Easterhouse, the N18 to East Kilbride, the N240 to Bellshill, Motherwell and Wishaw, and the N267 to Blantyre and Hamilton. McGill’s runs the N3 to Pollok, N4 to Newton Mearns, N6 to Clydebank, N26 to Renfrew, N38 to Paisley and N60 to Drumchapel. Its N3 leaves Charing Cross hourly from 12:45am to 3:45am on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

The city centre stops changed on 23 October 2026. Glasgow City Council now has night bus hubs at selected stops, and First says all four of its night buses call at the stop on Union Street before Argyle Street, by O’Neill’s. The N2 and N240 have new stopping arrangements.

First’s 6pm Plus ticket gives unlimited travel from 6pm to 4:30am. It’s £4.75 for the city and local area or £6 for the whole network, and it’s app only. Under 22s travel free on First’s night buses with an NEC card, and service 77 now runs 24 hours, linking the West End with the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Our Glasgow bus guide and Glasgow taxis guide cover the rest.
