Short answer: for Scotstoun Stadium, the sit-down places are on and around Crow Road, about 20 minutes’ walk away. Little SoHo does pizza and The Prancing Stag does a proper dinner. Near Hampden, Buck’s Bar is about six minutes’ walk and Battlefield Rest is the pick for Italian. For the Hydro, walk up to Finnieston: Crabshakk for seafood, Rocco’s for pizza.

This page replaces our old Commonwealth Games food guide. The Games ran from 23 July to 2 August 2026, so now it’s a plain guide for matches, gigs and swim meets. Some venues have loads on the doorstep and some have next to nothing, and we say which is which.
Hours and prices come from each place’s own web page, and where we couldn’t find them we say so. Walking times are rough ones, worked out at a normal pace from each venue’s postcode. Sorting out the journey too? Our guide to getting to Glasgow’s big venues covers trains, the subway, buses and parking.

Places to eat near Scotstoun Stadium
There isn’t much right beside Scotstoun Stadium, so it’s worth planning ahead. The nearest restaurants we could check are on Crow Road, about 20 minutes’ walk away. Closer in, you’ve got the food village at the ground on match days, a café at Glasgow Club Scotstoun and a Greggs on Dumbarton Road.
Looking for pubs near Scotstoun Stadium? Dumbarton Road, the nearest strip, has a couple of pubs, some takeaways and the odd restaurant within about 10 to 15 minutes’ walk. We couldn’t confirm any of them on a website, so we’re not naming them. On match days the bars at the ground are the easy option.

Food at the stadium
For Glasgow Warriors home games, the club’s match day page lists a “Scotstoun food village” with nine traders. There’s The Pizza Pitch (pizza and loaded fries), Loaded Bites (burgers, wraps and loaded fries), Greek Gyros, SMSH BRGR (burgers), Salt & Chilli Chicken, Loop & Scoop (churros) and The Chippy, which turns up at selected games. Hector & Harriet and A Latte Love do the hot drinks. The Bonus Pint Bar is in the Fan Zone and the Famous Grouse Bothy Bar serves drinks too.
Turnstiles, bars and the clubhouse open about 90 minutes before kick-off. It’s a cashless ground, so bring a card. The club says vegetarian, vegan, halal and gluten-free options are available across the venue. It doesn’t list prices, apart from loaded fries being a £2 upgrade at Loaded Bites.
The café at Glasgow Club Scotstoun
The closest sit-down spot is the café on the sports campus, on Danes Drive. Glasgow Life lists it as open 9am to 4pm on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 9am to 7.30pm on Wednesday and Thursday, and 9am to 3pm at weekends. The menu Glasgow Life links for it (November 2025) has a toastie at £4.95, soup of the day at £3.95, a baked potato at £6.95 and a flat white at £3.45. It shuts at 3pm at weekends, so it suits daytime events better than evening kick-offs.
Greggs, Dumbarton Road
If you just need something quick, this is the budget option. Its page lists 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 5pm on Saturday and 8.30am to 5pm on Sunday, so it’s no use after an evening game. Greggs doesn’t show shop prices on its website.
Where: 1586 to 1588 Dumbarton Road, G14 9DB. Walk: about 11 minutes (950 m) from the stadium.
A bit further: Crow Road, about 20 minutes’ walk
This is where the proper sit-down food is. Crow Road and the streets off it are about 1.5 to 1.8 km from the stadium, so give yourself 20 minutes each way, and check closing times before you set off for an evening game.
Little SoHo
A family-owned cocktail bar and pizzeria that calls itself “a great place before and after Glasgow Warriors Rugby at Scotstoun Stadium”. The pizzas are stone-baked, there’s pasta and burgers too, and it has a kids’ menu. Dogs are welcome if they behave.
Where: 512 Crow Road, G13 1NU. Open: Monday to Thursday noon to 10pm, Friday and Saturday noon to 11pm, Sunday 12.30pm to 10pm, but the last table is 8.30pm, so it’s one for before an evening game. Typical price: 12-inch pizzas £12 to £16, burgers £14 to £16.50, pasta £11 to £17. Walk: about 19 minutes (1.6 km).
The Prancing Stag
The pick if you want a proper dinner. The autumn market menu is only served at set times, so look at its menus page before you book. It’s closed on Mondays and Tuesdays at the moment.

Where: 1A Ashwood Gardens, Jordanhill, G13 1NX. Open: Wednesday evening, Thursday lunch and dinner, Friday and Saturday from noon, Sunday noon to 10pm. Last dinner bookings are 9pm (7.30pm on Sunday). In December it opens Tuesday to Sunday with the Christmas menu only, and it’s closed on 25, 26 and 27 December.
Typical price: the autumn market menu is £28 for two courses and £35 for three, served Wednesday 5pm to 8pm, Thursday noon to 8pm, Friday and Saturday noon to 6pm and all day Sunday. Walk: about 21 minutes (1.8 km).
Wee Paree
A brunch and brasserie place on a corner of Crow Road, with tables outside. Brunch and lunch run from 10am to 4pm and the evening menu starts at 5pm.

Where: 240 Crow Road, G11 7LA. Open: Sunday to Thursday 10am to 10pm, Friday and Saturday 10am to 11pm. Typical price: brunch dishes mostly £12 to £17 (eggs Benedict is £13), lunch mains £14 to £30, evening small plates £12 to £17 and big plates £17 to £38. Walk: about 21 minutes (1.7 km).
Olivia’s and Kothel 300: two daytime options
Olivia’s (344 to 348 Crow Road, G11 7HT) does “brunch, coffee and something sweet” and is open 9am to 5pm every day. Kothel 300 (300 Crow Road, G11 7HS) is a café with sandwiches, cakes, artisan bread and coffee. It’s open 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 6pm on Sunday, it’s walk-ins only and dogs are welcome. Both are about 19 minutes’ walk from the stadium (1.6 km), and neither shows prices on its website.
For the area itself, see our Scotstoun guide. If you fancy a long brunch before a daytime event, our best brunch in Glasgow list has more.
Places to eat near Tollcross International Swimming Centre
Honestly, there isn’t much round the pool, so the café inside is your best bet. It’s a residential area with a few takeaways and cafés along Tollcross Road, but most don’t have a website we could check, so we’ve left them out. For a proper sit-down meal, plan to eat in Parkhead, Dennistoun or in town.
The café at Glasgow Club Tollcross
The Glasgow Life page lists the café as open 9am to 4pm Monday to Saturday, with no Sunday hours shown, so bring something on a Sunday. The pool is on Wellshot Road, G32 7QR, and parking is free. The café menu (November 2025) has porridge at £3.25, a morning roll at £3.50, a toastie at £4.95, soup at £3.95 and a baked potato at £6.95. Glasgow Life links the same menu from its Scotstoun page.
Salt & Chilli
A Chinese takeaway for after the session, with collection and delivery. Its website doesn’t list prices (the menu sits behind its online ordering link), so we can’t quote any.
Where: 987 Tollcross Road, G32 8UU. Open: 4.30pm to 10.30pm, closed on Tuesdays. Walk: about 8 minutes (650 m) from the pool.
If you want a proper sit-down meal
The nearest sit-down place we could check on its own website is Apocom Kitchen, a Nigerian restaurant on Gallowgate in Parkhead. It’s about 1.9 km from the pool, so roughly 23 minutes’ walk. Its hours and prices are in the Emirates Arena section below.
For Italian, Coia’s Café at 473 to 477 Duke Street, G31 1RD, calls itself an Italian restaurant and delicatessen. It’s in Dennistoun, about 3.8 km from the pool, so that’s a bus or a taxi rather than a walk. Its weekday lunch is two courses for £18.95 or three for £23.95, noon to 3pm Monday to Friday. There’s more on the area in our Dennistoun guide.
Places to eat near the Emirates Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome
Same story as Tollcross: the building has its own café, and the sit-down places are a bit of a hike. The arena (Glasgow Life calls it the Glasgow International Arena) is at 1000 London Road, G40 3HG, with the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome next door. Celtic Park is only about 500 metres away, so the Celtic Park picks below work from here too.

The café at the arena
The café is on the ground floor. Glasgow Life lists it as open 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am to 3.30pm at weekends, and says food service stops an hour before closing. The page doesn’t show its menu prices.
Apocom Kitchen
A Nigerian restaurant on Gallowgate in Parkhead, serving African dishes and African beers. You can book through its website.
Where: 1391 Gallowgate, G31 4EX. Open: Monday to Saturday 1pm to 1am, Sunday 5pm to 11pm. Typical price: soups and specials mostly £16 to £20 (egusi soup £15.99, isiewu £16.99, oha soup £18.99), rice dishes from £9.99. Walk: about 14 minutes (1.2 km) from the arena.
More options nearby
Two more are covered in the Celtic Park section below: Tandoori Choice, an Indian takeaway about 10 minutes’ walk (830 m) from the arena, and the Forge Shopping Centre’s cafés and fast food, about 18 minutes (1.5 km). The other sit-down places we could check are in Dennistoun and on Glasgow Green, 23 to 25 minutes’ walk away, and the walking times from the arena are almost the same as from Celtic Park.
Places to eat near the SEC and OVO Hydro
This is the easy one. Argyle Street in Finnieston is about 12 to 14 minutes’ walk from the Hydro and it’s packed with places to eat. Expect it to be busy before big gigs, so book if you can, or go early. Our Finnieston guide has more on the area.

Food at the venue
Inside the SEC, Clydebuilt Bar & Kitchen sits “at the heart of the SEC Centre” with an all-day menu built around Scottish produce. Walk-ins are fine at the bar for every event, but the Kitchen side is pre-booking only for selected events. On evening live-event nights at the Hydro or the Armadillo, SEC says food is served from 4pm to 7.30pm and the bar closes at 8pm.
At the Hydro itself, the ground-floor outlets Rocksalt and Big Grill serve a street-food style “Gig Food Menu”. All SEC venues are cashless, so it’s card or contactless only.
Rocco’s
New York-style pizza and pasta, and the easy option before a gig. The weekday Lunch Club is £9 for a pizza, a pasta or a sub, and the doors stay open late. Walk-ins and bookings are both welcome for the Lunch Club.
Where: 1116 Argyle Street, G3 8TD. Open: every day noon to midnight (1am on Friday and Saturday). Typical price: 14-inch pizzas £14 to £16, pasta £14 to £20, Lunch Club £9 (Monday to Friday, noon to 4pm). Walk: about 12 minutes (1 km).
Frank’s Pizza
Another pizza option, with a short menu of pizzas and sides. The Finnieston branch is on Claremont Street. Its website gives one set of shop hours for all its branches, and Monday and Tuesday aren’t listed.
Where: 6 Claremont Street, G3 7HA. Open: Wednesday and Thursday 4.30pm to 9pm, Friday 4.30pm to 10pm, Saturday 3pm to 10pm, Sunday 3pm to 9pm. Typical price: pizzas £13 (margherita) to £15, sides £5 to £8. Walk: about 12 minutes (980 m).
Dockyard Social
A social dining venue with independent street food traders, so there’s more than one menu to pick from. It’s open every weekend and runs gig pre-parties, but some nights are ticketed events, so check the listings first. The Saturday listing on its site ran from noon to 11pm. The site doesn’t show prices.
Where: 95 to 107 Haugh Road, G3 8TX. Walk: about 14 minutes (1.1 km).
Crabshakk
Scottish seafood, with dishes that arrive as they’re cooked, so it works best if you share. It isn’t cheap, so check the prices below before you book. You can book online, and the bar takes walk-ins.
Where: 1114 Argyle Street, G3 8TD. Open: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday noon to 2.30pm and 4.45pm to 10pm, Saturday noon to 10pm, Sunday noon to 9pm. Tuesday isn’t in its regular hours.
Typical price: small plates mostly £10 to £20, bigger dishes £23 to £40, and a whole lobster is £70 (menu dated 26 August 2026). Walk: about 12 minutes (1 km).
The Finnieston
A seafood restaurant and gin bar that calls itself “Glasgow’s premier gin bar”. It takes card details when you book and charges £20 a head for no-shows and late cancellations, so read the booking rules. Its website doesn’t list opening hours, so check when you book.
Where: 1125 Argyle Street, G3 8ND. Typical price: plates £11.50 to £18.50, beer-battered haddock and chips £20, three oysters £9 (August 2026 menu). Walk: about 13 minutes (1.1 km).
Ox and Finch
Sharing plates, so order a few between two. Walk-ins are always welcome, though the restaurant recommends booking.

Where: 920 Sauchiehall Street, G3 7TF. Open: every day, reservations from noon and last arrivals at 10pm. Typical price: most plates £8 to £16.50, with a couple of bigger dishes at £35 and £52. Walk: about 14 minutes (1.2 km).
The Ben Nevis Bar
The post-gig pint. It’s a Highland-style whisky pub, and Visit Glasgow lists traditional music sessions on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 8pm. It doesn’t take bookings and its site doesn’t mention food.
Where: 1147 Argyle Street, G3 8TB. Open: Monday to Saturday noon to midnight, Sunday 12.30pm to midnight. Walk: about 13 minutes (1.1 km).
Kelvingrove Café
A café bar on Argyle Street (not the café inside the art gallery) that’s open every day from 10am until 1am, so it’s handy for a drink after a late finish. Its menus page lists food from 10am to 4pm and 5pm to 9pm Monday to Saturday, and the Sunday menu from 1pm to 7pm, so don’t count on a late dinner. The menus are images on its website, so we can’t quote prices.

Where: 1161 Argyle Street, G3 8TB. Walk: about 13 minutes (1.1 km).

Places to eat near Hampden Park
Hampden sits in a residential bit of Mount Florida. The closest places worth a look are on Cathcart Road and around Battlefield, between 6 and 16 minutes’ walk away. Expect them to be busy on big match days, so book where you can. Our Mount Florida guide covers the area.
Food at the stadium
Hampden’s visitor guide says hot and cold match day snacks and refreshments are available at kiosks throughout the stadium. It’s contactless and cashless for matchdays and events, turnstiles generally open 90 minutes before kick-off, and you can’t bring alcohol in or leave and come back.
Café Hampden serves hot and cold drinks, snacks and meals. It’s open 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm on Saturday and 11am to 3pm on Sunday, but those times are “subject to events”. The page doesn’t show prices.
Buck’s Bar Southside
The closest of our picks to the stadium. It’s all about buttermilk fried chicken and burgers, and its own site calls the spot “perfectly placed for match days” and “a short stroll to Hampden Park”. You can book through the site. Under-18s are welcome until 10pm.
Where: 1021 Cathcart Road, G42 9XJ. Open: every day 11am to midnight, with food served until 10.30pm. Typical price: burgers £16.95 to £17.95, chicken £15 to £18, and a weekday express lunch for £14.95 (Monday to Friday, noon to 2pm). Walk: about 6 minutes (540 m).
Battlefield Rest
The pick for a sit-down Italian. It opened in 1914 as a rest stop for tram travellers and has been a Continental and Italian bistro since 1994. Booking is advised. Its site lists food Monday to Saturday and only private functions on Sundays, so don’t count on a table that day.
Where: 55 Battlefield Road, G42 9JL. Open: food from noon, with last orders around 9pm (the kitchen may close earlier if there are no bookings), and coffee and scones from 10am. Typical price: weekday lunch is £18.90 for two courses, and on the early evening menu (Monday to Thursday, 4pm to 6.30pm) pizzas are £12.90 to £17.50 and pasta £14.50 to £18.50. Walk: about 11 minutes (950 m).
Queens Diner
A diner-style place for brunch and lunch. The Queens Breakfast is £12.50, burgers are £15, and there’s a £6 roll and coffee deal until noon, Monday to Friday. It’s card only. Its website lists Monday and Saturday 8am to 5pm and Sunday 9am to 6pm, but not the other weekdays, so check before you go.

Where: 50 Battlefield Road, G42 9QF. Walk: about 13 minutes (1.1 km).
Church on the Hill
A bar and restaurant “for locals, run by locals”, with 14 beers on tap and sport on the TVs. It’s the furthest of our Hampden picks, at about 16 minutes’ walk. Walk-ins are always welcome.
Where: 16 Algie Street, G41 3DJ. Open: Monday to Thursday noon to 11pm, Friday noon to midnight, Saturday 10am to midnight, Sunday 10am to 11pm, with the kitchen open until 9pm every day. Typical price: burgers £16.50 to £18.50, pies £17.50 to £18.50, Detroit-style pizzas from £10. Walk: about 16 minutes (1.4 km).
Places to eat near Celtic Park
Parkhead has plenty of pubs and takeaways around the ground, but not many places with a website we could check, so we’ve only named the ones we could. The nearest sit-down restaurant we could check is Apocom Kitchen, and for more choice you’ll want to head into Dennistoun or down to Glasgow Green.
At the ground
The Visit Celtic Park section of the club’s website lists a Sports Bar and a restaurant called Number 7. We couldn’t confirm opening days, times or prices for either, so check the club’s pages before you plan a meal around them.
Apocom Kitchen
The Nigerian restaurant described in the Emirates Arena section above: 1391 Gallowgate, G31 4EX, open 1pm to 1am Monday to Saturday and 5pm to 11pm on Sunday. Soups and specials are mostly £16 to £20 and rice dishes start at £9.99. It’s about 13 minutes’ walk (1.1 km) from Celtic Park.
Tandoori Choice
An Indian takeaway on Springfield Road, with delivery and collection. It’s closed on Mondays and its website doesn’t show prices.
Where: 800 Springfield Road, G31 4HL. Open: Sunday to Thursday 4pm to 10.50pm, Friday and Saturday 4pm to 11.50pm. Walk: about 9 minutes (750 m) from Celtic Park.
The Forge Shopping Centre
If you just want something quick, the centre’s own site lists a Costa, Greggs, McDonald’s and Subway, plus Bensons Café, Café Deja Vu, McChans and Sisters Café. The centre is open 8.30am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 6pm on Sunday, but it says individual stores may have different hours, so check the one you want.
Where: 1221 Gallowgate, G31 4EB. Walk: about 17 minutes (1.4 km) from Celtic Park.
Worth the longer walk
If you’ve got time before or after the match, these are worth a walk or a short bus ride. They’re 23 to 25 minutes’ walk from Celtic Park and the Emirates Arena.
- Dennistoun Bar-B-Que (585 Duke Street, G31 1PY) is open Wednesday and Thursday 5pm to 9pm, Friday and Saturday noon to 9.30pm and Sunday noon to 9pm, and closed Monday and Tuesday. Dogs are welcome, and under-18s have to leave by 9pm. About 25 minutes (2.1 km).
For pubs on Gallowgate and London Road, we couldn’t check any on a website, so we’re not naming them. Our Dennistoun guide covers the area.

Places to eat near Ibrox Stadium
Ibrox is the thinnest of the lot for restaurants, so it’s worth eating at the ground or before you travel. Our Govan guide covers what’s in the area.
Food at the stadium on match days
Rangers’ supporter notices say there are kiosks on the concourses selling hot and cold drinks, food and snacks. Ibrox is cashless, so kiosks take cards only. A food outlet called Black Rooster is in the Sandy Jardine Rear concourse and outside the stadium on match days.
For some games, the Rangers Fan Zone at Edmiston House opens a few hours before kick-off with a bar and food stalls, free with a valid match ticket. The club’s August 2026 notice for a 7.30pm kick-off had it opening at 5pm, but its March 2025 notice for a Sunday game said there’d be no Fan Zone. Check the notice for your game. The Edmiston House café opens in the morning on match days (10am in the August notice).
The Ibrox Restaurant
You can eat inside the stadium on days when there’s no home game. The restaurant is open to the public, takes bookings online, and doesn’t operate on home match days. It’s card only, and children are welcome.

Where: inside Ibrox Stadium. Open: Wednesday to Saturday noon to 10pm with last orders at 8pm, and Sunday noon to 6pm. It’s closed Monday and Tuesday. Sunday last orders are 5pm on its hours section and 4pm in its FAQ, so aim for earlier.
Typical price: the main menu is £27.50 for two courses and £35 for three. Walk: on site.
New Ocean Palace
A Chinese takeaway for after the match, with collection and delivery.
Where: 8 Summertown Road, G51 2LY. Open: 4pm to 11pm (11.30pm on Friday and Saturday). Typical price: a Munchy Box is £9.70 for 8-inch or £16.60 for 12-inch. Walk: about 11 minutes (950 m).
Places to eat near the Kelvingrove Lawn Bowls Centre
The bowling centre is at the southern end of Kelvingrove Park, on Kelvin Way, G3 6BY. Glasgow Life’s page doesn’t list a café there, so you’ll eat out. That’s no hardship, because this is one of the best-served venues on the list. Bookings have to be made in advance (up to seven days ahead), so don’t just turn up. Our Hillhead and West End guide has more on the area.
KG Café, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum
The nearest food is in the museum. Glasgow Life lists the table-service KG Café on the lower level, open 10am to 4pm (11am on Friday and Sunday), and the counter-service KG Coffee Shop in the main hall, open until 4.30pm. The lunch menu (August 2025) has soup at £7, sandwiches at £8.95 and mains at £14.85 to £17.45, served 12pm to 3pm (11.30am on Friday and Sunday).

A Gibson Street café bar that says it wants to “inspire folk to wander off the beaten path”. It’s one of the closest picks and it stays open late.
Where: 28 Gibson Street, G12 8NX. Open: the café bar is open every day, noon to midnight Sunday to Thursday and noon to 1am on Friday and Saturday. Typical price: small plates £8 to £16, bigger plates £18 to £38, burgers and curries £17 to £19.50 (October 2026 menu). Walk: about 6 minutes (500 m).

Ox and Finch
The sharing-plates place described in the Hydro section is on Sauchiehall Street, about 9 minutes’ walk (720 m) from the bowls. Most plates are £8 to £16.50, and it’s open daily with last arrivals at 10pm. See the Ox and Finch website for booking.

A craft beer and pizza bar by Kelvinbridge. The pages we could open don’t show menu prices.

Common questions
What’s the best place to eat near Scotstoun Stadium?
For a sit-down meal, try Little SoHo for pizza (12-inch pizzas £12 to £16) or The Prancing Stag for dinner (two courses £28). Both are on or just off Crow Road, about 20 minutes’ walk from the stadium. On match days, the food village at the ground is quicker.
Is there food at Scotstoun Stadium?
On Glasgow Warriors match days, yes. The club lists nine food traders and two bars, and the ground is cashless. The café at Glasgow Club Scotstoun, on the same campus, is open in the daytime.
Is there food at Hampden Park?
There are kiosks throughout the stadium on match days, and Hampden is contactless and cashless. Café Hampden is open every day, but its hours are “subject to events”.
Where should I eat before a gig at the OVO Hydro?
Clydebuilt Bar & Kitchen inside the SEC serves food until 7.30pm on evening event nights. Outside, Argyle Street in Finnieston is about 12 minutes’ walk away. Book early for Crabshakk or The Finnieston, or grab the £9 lunch at Rocco’s if you’re there on a weekday afternoon.
Is there anywhere to eat near Celtic Park, the Emirates Arena or Tollcross?
Not a lot. The Emirates Arena and Tollcross both have a café inside, and Apocom Kitchen on Gallowgate is about 13 minutes from Celtic Park and 23 from Tollcross. For more choice, you’ll want Dennistoun or Glasgow Green, 23 to 25 minutes’ walk from Celtic Park.
Do I need to book?
For the busier sit-down places, yes. Crabshakk, The Finnieston, Battlefield Rest and The Prancing Stag all take bookings, and Battlefield Rest says booking is advised. Kothel 300, the Ben Nevis Bar and Dennistoun Bar-B-Que don’t take bookings, so go early.
