Glasgow Swimming Pools: Where They Are, Prices and Opening Times

Glasgow Life runs the council’s swimming pools under the Glasgow Club name, and its list has 12 pools: Tollcross, Scotstoun, Gorbals, Springburn, Maryhill, Bellahouston, Pollok, Castlemilk, Drumchapel, Easterhouse, North Woodside and Whitehill. Whitehill is shut until further notice. A normal swim costs £5.50 for an adult and £2.75 for under-18s and concessions. There’s no booking needed. Tollcross has the only 50m pool, and none of the pool pages mention a flume or a slide.

Last checked: 26 October 2026.

Glasgow’s swimming pools at a glance

Every name below links to that pool’s own page on the Glasgow Club website, which is the place to check this week’s times. I’ve given the area and what each page says is there.

Pool Area What’s there
Tollcross Tollcross, east (G32) 50m pool, 25m pool, baby pool, children’s pool
Scotstoun Scotstoun, west (G14) 25m pool, leisure pool, accessible pool platform lift

Springburn Springburn, north (G21) 25m pool, leisure pool

Whitehill Dennistoun (G31) 25m pool and teaching pool, but closed (see below)

Areas are from each pool’s address and page. If you want to know what the area around one is like, we’ve guides to Maryhill and Dennistoun.

Whitehill is closed

When I read the Whitehill page on 26 October 2026 it said: “We apologise Whitehill is closed until further notice owing to the presence of RAAC”. Every day showed as closed. Don’t plan a swim there without checking the page first.

Swimming pools in the city centre, West End and southside

Glasgow Life’s list has no pool right in the city centre. The nearest is Gorbals, which its page calls a five-minute walk from the centre. In the West End, North Woodside is the closest, just off Great Western Road. It’s a 20m pool with shorter hours, so check before you go.

On the southside you have Gorbals, Bellahouston, Pollok and Castlemilk. Scotstoun and Maryhill cover the west and north west, and Tollcross, Easterhouse and Springburn the east and north. For getting to Scotstoun or Tollcross by train, our nearest stations guide helps.

Pools with slides and flumes

None of the 12 pool pages lists a flume or a slide. What some do have is a leisure pool, a baby pool or a walk-in entrance, which suit wee ones. These are the ones with something for kids:

  • Tollcross: a baby pool and a children’s pool, plus an outdoor play park.
  • Gorbals: a leisure pool with a walk-in entrance.
  • Castlemilk and Easterhouse: a teaching pool as well as the main pool.
  • Scotstoun, Springburn and Pollok: a leisure pool.

Opening times

Opening hours change, and the pool often closes to the public for lessons and club sessions. So read the pool’s own page, and use the swimming sessions list on the Glasgow Club swimming page for exact session times. Here’s what the pages showed on 26 October 2026 for five of the smaller pools, which have the most limited hours.

Pool Closed Pool hours as listed
Castlemilk Saturday Mon 15:00 to 17:45, Tue 15:00 to 20:45, Wed to Fri 09:00 to 14:45, Sun 09:00 to 18:00 (main pool)
Drumchapel Saturday Mon, Tue, Fri 10:00 to 16:00, Wed and Thu 15:00 to 21:00, Sun 09:00 to 16:00
Easterhouse Sunday Mon, Wed, Fri 09:00 to 14:45, Tue and Thu 14:30 to 20:30, Sat 09:00 to 16:00
North Woodside Sunday Mon and Thu 15:00 to 21:00, Tue, Wed, Fri 10:00 to 16:00, Sat 09:00 to 18:00
Pollok Sunday Mon 14:00 to 19:30, Tue 14:00 to 15:30, Wed to Fri 10:00 to 15:30, Sat 09:00 to 18:00

Tollcross, Scotstoun, Gorbals, Springburn and Maryhill list pool hours for all seven days. Springburn’s page shows the pool open 06:00 to 21:00 Monday to Friday and 08:00 to 16:00 at the weekend. Tollcross lists pool hours of 07:00 to 20:00 on Monday, 10:30 to 17:00 on Saturday and 09:00 to 19:00 on Sunday. Scotstoun, Gorbals and Maryhill add notes about lessons and club sessions. Bellahouston’s page doesn’t give pool hours and sends you to the session list.

How much does swimming cost in Glasgow?

These are Glasgow Club’s pay-as-you-go prices, which its prices page says apply from 1 August 2026 (read 26 October 2026).

Recreational or lane swim Adult Junior Concession
Per swim £5.50 £2.75 £2.75

The page counts anyone aged 18 or over as an adult and anyone under 18 as a junior. The concession rate is based on ability to pay, not age, and you apply for it online. Swimming is included in the FitClub and ActivClub memberships, so if you swim most weeks it’s worth comparing.

Kids’ and family swimming

You don’t need to book a normal swim. Turn up, pay and go in. Registering and booking ahead saves time when you arrive.

  • Free family swims: Glasgow Club puts these on in the school holidays where it can. Up to five people can swim free together, for example one adult and four kids, subject to the supervision ratios. You don’t have to book. Adults on their own pay the normal price, and children over 8 and under 18 can swim without an adult. When I read the page on 26 October 2026 it showed no sessions for 26 October to 1 November, so check the free family swimming page. Our school holidays guide has the dates.
  • Supervision: Glasgow Club publishes supervision ratios for children on its swimming page. Read them before you take a group.
  • What to wear: the same page says babies need swim nappies under their swimwear.

For other days out with children, we’ve a guide to things to do with kids in Glasgow, and a list of free things to do.

Swimming lessons

Glasgow Life’s kids’ swimming page covers lessons. Pre-school lessons are for ages 3 to 5. Learn to Swim is for ages 5 and over and has five levels. You book by phoning the pool or asking at reception.

The page lists pre-school and Learn to Swim lessons at Tollcross, Scotstoun, Pollok, Maryhill, Gorbals and Bellahouston. Adult beginner lessons are at Tollcross, Maryhill, Gorbals, Scotstoun and Bellahouston. They’re group classes of 8 to 12 adults aged 16 and over. The page still says Springburn isn’t offering lessons because of refurbishment, so phone Springburn if you’re after one there. Some of the page’s wording is from 2025 too, so confirm with the pool.

The prices on that page on 26 October 2026 were:

Learn to Swim Full price Concession
Direct Debit, per month (child) £30 £21
Direct Debit, per month (adult) £34 £23
Top-up, 10 credits (child) £85 £60
Top-up, 10 credits (adult) £95 £65

The Direct Debit price covers 45 lessons a year, and you can get up to 48. It also includes unlimited leisure swimming at the pools. For help with a lesson, Glasgow Life gives swimming@glasgowlife.org.uk.

Accessibility and other sessions

Each pool page links to an AccessAble guide for planning your visit, so use that for detail on a particular pool. The pages list “disabled access and facilities” at Tollcross, Gorbals, Maryhill, North Woodside, Pollok, Scotstoun, Springburn and Whitehill. Changing Places toilets are listed at Tollcross, Castlemilk, Gorbals and Scotstoun, and Scotstoun also lists an accessible pool platform lift.

Glasgow Club’s swimming page also lists adult disability swimming, ASN free family swimming and women-only swimming. The women-only sessions are at North Woodside, on the last Monday of each month from 6pm to 9pm, according to its page. For Glasgow Life’s wider information, see its accessible activities page.
